The Simpsons Arrives in Psyonix's Hit Game: But It's Not the Car Fans Are Hoping For

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole destination where fans can experience the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be compatible in Fortnite. That said, if gamers will actually want to use it is a different matter, as there's only one Simpsons car everyone is itching to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

While many players would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical car Homer designed personally in the classic episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty truck showcased in the tenth season. Instead, fans are getting the family's everyday beat-up four-door, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this particular car has seen better days, it stands as an iconic element of the show. And for players who pay attention to the game's car hitboxes, the trusty sedan uses the same hitbox as the Dominus.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

And it's not the sole customization item from the series coming to the game. This limited-time event will additionally feature a series of challenges to unlock more rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. According to a press release, the missions will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to the Simpson house, and travel a specific distance sufficient for acquiring the ideal pastries!"

Although the full lineup of earnable items hasn't been revealed, here is what's been announced so far:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is any indication, it seems players will also receive rims with a TV showing The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and rocket boosts themed to burning tires and Krusty Burger.
